Description
The parish of St. Maximilian Kolbe, run by the brothers of the Order of Friars Minor, was established in the late nineties as a response to the rapid development of one of the new districts of the city.. It was initiated by the then-provincial of the order, who recognized the need for the presence of a religious community in an environment composed of young families., students and people coming to Sośnicowice in search of work. From the very beginning, the parish was conceived not only as a place for celebrating liturgy, but also as a space for real spiritual and social support.. The interior of the church is single-nave, clear in spatial terms and symmetrical. The wooden pews are arranged in two blocks with a central passage leading directly to the altar.. The walls are kept in a bright color scheme, which enhances the feeling of light and space. In the center is an altar with a decorative table and a tabernacle placed in the axis of the church.. Above it hangs a crucifix, which serves as a theological reference point for the entire composition.
