Description
On a freezing New Year's Eve, a poor young girl tries to sell matches in the street. Terrified to return home empty-handed, she huddles in a cold alley and lights matches one by one for warmth, seeing visions of comfort and her late grandmother. In the end, she fades away into the snow, leaving only burnt matches behind. Peace will only arrive when everyone finally surrenders.
